24-hour Comic Day was this weekend, from noon Saturday, the 20th to noon Sunday, the 21st. It was really fun and cool and great! Well, except for how I started off in such a bad mood that I mostly wasted the first few hours and very nearly left before I'd really even started. Other than that!

This year I decided to ink, which I am so glad I didn't attempt to do my first year doing this because it would have killed me. It almost killed me this time. I did manage to get 20 pages done, which is pretty close to the 24 page goal, right?

I think there were like, ten people participating at Quinlan Keep. Quinlan Keep is a really great place to do 24-hour Comic Day except for one thing--lack of fully functioning bathroom. You can't use the sink there, which is how it was last year too, so that was no surprise. (Yeah, just hand sanitizer.) But this time also the door was off its hinges, and pretty hard to prop against the frame without there still being gaps. It was advisable to let people know you were going back there so they would know not to bother you.

I didn't move around as much as I should have, or drink as much water as I should have (which was intentional, but certainly not a good idea) and by the end of it I was too messed up to read anybody else's stuff, even though I wanted to. But, once people get their stuff up the midmococo website will link to it. Also, there's a picture slideshow of the event on the blog there.

If you're thinking of participating in this next time, I recommend it. One of the fun parts is seeing the level of sanity decline as the hours roll by. People get pretty loopy, and then the fun conversations start! I think the funniest part of this one was Scott reading aloud from one of Frank Miller's new Batman books (to a chorus of "You're making that up!" and "There's no way that's what it really says!") For the record my brain is still a little broken from hearing "CRACK" used as a sex scene sound effect.
